Conference Teaching Fellowships are open to emerging writers of all backgrounds and genres with a passion for teaching and writing.

Preparing your application

The session proposal is the core of the application. Generally speaking, we are interested in sessions with the following characteristics:

  • Engaging: Lively, dynamic sessions with innovative content presented through generative exercises, workshops, readings, discussions, small group work, and other conference formats
  • Relevant: Engage, explore, and advance current trends, topics, and issues in creative literature, publishing, and contemporary literature
  • Interdisciplinary: Approach their topics through different genres, styles, art forms, perspectives, or fields
  • Inclusive: Accurately portray and reflect the diversity of the local, regional, and national literary landscape.

In addition to your session proposal, you should also prepare a brief statement of merit supporting your session, as well as a professional biography and a resume or CV.

Conference Teaching Fellowship applications open February 15, 2026 and close May 15, 2026 at 11:59 pm Arizona time. All applicants will be informed of their selection by June 1, 2026.

Apply for MFA Presents

Eligibility

MFA Presents is open to current MFA students and recent MFA graduates of all backgrounds and genres who are interested in presenting a panel discussion.

Preparing your application

The panel proposal is the core of the MFA Presents application. A panel presentation should have 2-5 panelists (including the applicant). It should be lively, conversational and audience-focused, offering insight into topics or themes relevant to contemporary literature and creative writing. Strong applications typically have the following qualities:

  • Engaging: Encourage dynamic exchange among panelists and with the audience with formats that may include brief readings, moderated discussion, or other interactive approaches
  • Relevant: Explore current conversations, questions, and challenges in contemporary literature, creative writing, publishing, or literary culture
  • Interdisciplinary: Bring together different genres, aesthetic approaches, identities, or artistic practices, or that place literary work in conversation with other fields or forms
  • Inclusive: Reflect the diversity of today’s literary landscape and thoughtfully engage a range of voices, perspectives, and experiences.

In addition to the proposal, applicants should also submit a brief statement of merit explaining the significance of the proposed panel and a professional biography for each panelist.

MFA Presents applications open February 15, 2026 and close May 15, 2026 at 11:59 pm Arizona time. All applicants will be informed of their selection by June 1, 2026.

Apply to Present as a Community Writer

Community Writers is open to writers of all backgrounds and genres who are not currently enrolled in an MFA program and who are interested in presenting a panel discussion.
