About Lois Roma-Deeley

Lois Roma-Deeley is the author of three collections of poetry, Rules of HungernorthSight and High Notes-- a Paterson Poetry Prize Finalist. Her poetry has been published in numerous literary anthologies, including Villanelles (Pocket Poet Series) and Political Punch: Contemporary Poems on the Politics of Identity. Further, her work has been featured in numerous literary journals, including Spillway, The Transnational, Water~Stone, Juked, Bellingham Review, Artful Dodge and many others. Roma-Deeley was chosen by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and CASE as the Outstanding U.S. Professor of the Year, 2012, community colleges category. In addition, she is the poetry curator for the Poetic Dialogues Project. Roma-Deeley has worked as poetry editor of a national magazine for more than 10 years, has served as a judge for local, state and national creative writing contests and has taught creative writing courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. She founded the creative writing program at Paradise Valley Community College. Roma-Deeley is a recipient of an Arizona Commission on the Arts 2016 Artist Research & Development Grant.
