About Jailene Matrecito

An Arizona native, Jailene Matrecito is undergoing her third-year as an Undergraduate at Arizona State University pursuing a double major in Political Science and English with a concentration in fiction. She participates in the Creative Writing Mentoring Program alongside Scott Daughtridge and is seeking exciting new opportunities to share her passion for the written word. Her work is often influenced by darker themes rooted in our current socio-political climate and her cultural heritage.

Meet Jailene Matrecito's Mentor

Scott Daughtridge is a fiction writer from Atlanta, Georgia. His work has been featured in Necessary Fiction, Midwestern Gothic, The Fanzine, matchbook, and other places. He received a Virginia G. Piper Center Creative Engagement Fellowship and is a fellow at the Hambidge Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Dorland Mountain Arts Colony. He is an Idea Capital grant recipient and was named the Emerging Artist of the Year in the Literary Arts by the Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs. He currently studies writing at Arizona State University where he serves as fiction editor of Hayden's Ferry Review.
