About Jailene Matrecito

Jay Matrecito is an aspiring fiction writer and social activist based in Phoenix, Arizona. A native to the desert, she is entering her senior year of undergraduate at Arizona State University and plans to graduate in May 2021 with a double major in Political Science and English and a minor in Media Analysis. Her concentration in Creative Writing has allowed her to share her passion for the written word. She has previously interned for Hayden’s Ferry Review, best-selling American author Aprilynne Pike, and is currently participating in the Creative Writing Mentoring Program alongside Scott Daughtridge. 

Meet Jailene Matrecito's Mentor

Scott Daughtridge is a fiction writer from Atlanta, Georgia. His work has been featured in Necessary Fiction, Midwestern Gothic, The Fanzine, matchbook, and other places. He received a Virginia G. Piper Center Creative Engagement Fellowship and is a fellow at the Hambidge Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Dorland Mountain Arts Colony. He is an Idea Capital grant recipient and was named the Emerging Artist of the Year in the Literary Arts by the Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs.
