Edinburgh International Book Festival
August 9–25, 2014
Edinburgh, England
For over 30 years, the Edinburgh International Book Festival has grown to become one of the preeminent staples in global literature, bringing writers and readers from all around the world to discuss, debate, and share their thoughts on a wide range of topics.
In 2014, the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing was delighted to be a major partner of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and was proud to sponsor Darren Shan, a bestselling Y.A. author from Ireland. During a special Piper Center event on August 11th, Shan discussed “Zom-B”, his new 12-novel series that launched in September 2012, and will conclude in 2016. Shan’s books are available in 39 countries, in 31 languages, and have sold in excess of twenty million copies worldwide.
Catering to all literary genres and forms, the festival attracts around 200,000 visitors every year.
