The Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing has a long history of supporting students in the MFA Creative Writing Program at Arizona State University through a number of competitive grants, fellowships, graduate assistantships, writing residencies, and global engagement opportunities.

In recent years, the Piper Center has offered the following international student opportunities:

Writing Residency Fellowships:

  • Virginia G. Piper Global Writing Residency (East and Southeast Asia, 2015–ongoing)
  • National Park Service Residency Program at Wupatki and Walnut Canyon National Monuments (2014)
  • Casa Brava Writing Residency (Oaxaca, Mexico, 2007–2008)
  • Writing Residency at Sanskriti Foundation/Daywalka Foundation (Kolkata, India, 2007)

Teaching Fellowships:

  • Virginia G. Piper Global Teaching Fellowship (National University of Singapore, 2006–ongoing)
  • Argentina International Teaching Fellowship (Home Intercultural Learning in La Plata, Argentina, 2011)
  • Virginia G. Piper Global Teaching Fellowship (Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, 2007-2010)
