I am extremely grateful that I was given the opportunity to attend to the Desert Nights, Rising Stars Conference where I could learn techniques and meet new people that influenced me in different ways. […] Another thing that impacted me from the conference is that I understood my responsibility as a writer; I understood that I need to be true to myself, that I do not have to assimilate to be liked, that my struggles, my interests, my voice, and languages are not a disadvantage; they are a gift. I became motivated to experiment different forms of writing using those gifts. This is what I needed to experience before graduating from ASU because I understood that there is still more to give in my writing now that I will be out of college
