About the Creative Research Faculty Fellowship
This year the Piper Center will award two Creative Research Fellowships in place of the Global Research Fellowship which will not run due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing is proud to announce the Creative Writing Faculty Fellowship Program. This fellowship is open to all Creative Writing/English faculty, and adjunct instructors at Arizona State University. The fellowship award is up to $15,000 meant to enrich the depth and breadth of experience faculty have in their art with a potential impact to the ASU community and students.
Fellowships are self-led, and may entail a residency opportunity, research, conference involvement, or project enhancement. Applications must have a creative writing focus. Projects must be completed by August 31, 2022.
Funding & Awards
Fellowship funds are awarded based on the proposed project, not to exceed one year from the beginning of the project.
Fellowship funding can be structured as travel reimbursement, course release replacement salary and/or research expense reimbursement. When considering a course release, keep in mind while preparing budgets that course releases must be negotiated by recipients with their individual departments. Rates for course releases vary based on course and department and must be predetermined with your home department before award.
Please note: all fellowship funds are released on a reimbursement basis and must be justified within the proposed budget. Travel must be pre-approved by the Dean's office and run through ASU MyTrip. All ASU COVID-19 restrictions will be followed and travel may be delayed based on approvals. If trips are taken outside of the ASU system they will not be reimbursed. Awards should be used from July 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022.
