Arizona Educator Scholarships

Full conference registration for Arizona teachers

Each year, the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing offers a number of scholarships to the Desert Nights, Rising Stars Writers Conference for Arizona teachers working in primary, secondary, or higher education covering the full cost of conference registration. 

Applications for the AZ Educatior Scholarship are now open! Applications are due Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time.

Arizona Educator Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible, individuals must be currently employed by an institution of primary, secondary, or higher education in the State of Arizona. Educators of all subject matter and grade levels are encouraged to apply. 

Please note: individuals who have received an Arizona Educator Scholarship for the Desert Nights, Rising Stars Writers Conference within the past year are ineligible to apply.

No additional support for travel, lodging, or other financial assistance is available at this time.

Scholarship Application Process and Guidelines

Applications for the Arizona Educator Scholarship are simple, and consist of answering a few questions about the conference's personal and professional impact (500 words or less each):

  • What do you hope to gain from attending the Desert Nights, Rising Stars Writers Conference?
  • What are your personal and professional goals? How will the conference benefit you as an educator or writer?
  • How will the conference benefit your institution and its students?

Important Dates

Arizona Educator scholarships for 2021 open Monday, October 12 and close Friday, November 13 at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time . All applicants will be informed of selection no later than December 15.
