About this Event
Join the Office for Veteran and Military Engagement for "Stories of Service," a panel and mixed-genre reading of fiction, science fiction, poetry, journalism, and more from veteran writers on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. The panel will feature four veterans from different branches who served during different eras, bound by a life-long love of developing their craft to share their stories of service and society. Featuring:
- Nancy Dallett, Assistant Director of the Office for Veteran and Military Academic Engagement.
- Brett Hunt (Army), Director of the ASU Public Service Academy;
- Michelle Loposky (Army), Assistant Director, Outreach and Engagement at the ASU Pat Tillman Veterans Center;
- Claudia ELDib (Marines), a Ph.D. student working on “weaponized narratives” at ASU’s ASSURE; and
- Ryan Wadding, Pat Tillman Center Outreach and Engagement, and political science student at Barrett, The Honors College
Panelists will speak to how they've used creative writing to process the experience of war, negotiate the transition back into civilian life, and give voice to perspectives and narratives that may not be heard in larger society. More information about volunteering or getting more involved will be available.
While encouraged, RSVPs are purely for the purposes of monitoring attendance, gauging interest, and communicating information about parking, directions, and other aspects of the event. You do not have to register or RSVP to attend this event. This event is open to the public and free.
