Join the Cartonera Collective of Cardboard House Press for bilingual readings, music, and dialogue in Spanish and English on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. The Cartonera Collective is a team of book makers devoted to the production of bilingual book art from Latin American authors. Cartonera books are handmade in limited editions at community workshops all across the country. Readings will sample cartonera books recently published by Cardboard House Press:

  • Koan Underwater by Ecuadorian poet Juan José Rodinás, translated by Ilana Dann Luna;
  • Spinning Mill by Legna Rodríguez Iglesias, translated from the Spanish by Katerina Gonzalez Seligmann; and
  • Kilimanjaro by Maricela Guerrero, translated from the Spanish by Stalina Villarreal.

Readings will be accompanied by bilingual music and dialogue with members of Cartonera Collective-Phoenix. Cartonera members will also answer questions about bilingualism, translation, book making, or any other thoughts the audience may have.
